VIDEO: THE INTRODUCTION

Back on June 25, 2020, I released a Bonus Episode of the Just Another Fanboy podcast in which I just uploaded a previous episode that had already been released a number of years earlier.

However, rather than just repost something I'd posted before, I wanted to give something new to everyone, even it if was only a few minutes of new, and so I put together THE INTRODUCTION.

I had the idea one morning as I was driving to work, and as I had arrived early, I performed the whole thing in my car, out in the parking lot, using my phone to record the whole thing.

Later that night, I put it all together and tacked it on to the beginning of the bonus episode.

It was, of course, audio, so I added a bit of video featuring tape recorders and such simply so that I could add it to the YouTube channel.

Enjoy!

MUSIC VIDEO: HOLE BY LARRY

Back in the 90s there was a show on local cable channel 6 in Lawrence, Kansas.

It was called Silhouettes and it featured the local arts and music scene.

Back in 1995, sometime after the first Larry demo was finished, we were invited on to create some basic music videos for each of the three songs on the demo: Hole, Doesn't Matter, and Understand.

Here is Hole.

Enjoy.

JUST ANOTHER FANBOY 282

In February of 1987, following the Crisis that would forever change the landscape of the DCU, three men were brought together to tell the tales of the Justice League for this new, Post-Crisis Universe.

But there was a problem. Characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash were going through their own Post Crisis Reboots at the time, and the creatives in charge of redefining these characters were more than a little reluctant to allow others to tell stories about their babies, stories that might contradict what they were trying to build in each of their own books.

And so a new team was chosen. A team that, on paper, should never have worked, should never have sold, and should never have become the run away hit that it certainly came to be.

Hailed by many as the "Bwa-ha-ha!" era of the Justice League, I'm going to take a look at the series, one issue at a time, to rediscover what it was that I loved about the book, and to dispel the idea that the series was nothing more than B-List characters, foolishness, and a constant barrage of Bwa-ha-ha!

This is the episode in which I'm talking about Justice League #1 by Keith Giffen, J. Mark DeMatteis, Kevin Maguire, Terry Austin, Bob Lappan, and Gene D'Angelo.

Justice League #1 was published by DC Comics and was published on February 5, 1987.

JUST ANOTHER FANBOY 280

In 1975 writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, in need of a villain powerful enough to subdue and capture a werewolf, created a throw away character they called: The Moon Knight.

47 years later Moon Knight is a hero who punishes evildoers, despite battling with Dissociative Identity Disorder. He is the Fist of Khonshu, the avatar of an Egyptian Moon God, and the star of his own self titled six-issue mini series on Disney Plus set smack dab in the middle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is the second part in a multi-part series of episodes in which I look at the publishing history of Moon Knight in Marvel Comics to see how the character went from a minor villain in a book about a werewolf, to the complex, multifaceted hero with enough pull to headline his own TV Show.
Today, dear listeners, I'm looking at Marvel Spotlight #28: The Crushing Conquer-Lord! by Doug Moench, Don Perlin, Irene Vartanoff, and Irv Watanabe.

Marvel Spotlight 28 was published by Marvel Comics on March 9, 1976.
